With The Gan-So ATV Backhoe Inventor!
September 2006 QUESTION:
Bill, why did you design the Gan-So ATV Backhoe? ANSWER:
Well, as a placer miner, I have spent countless hours digging test holes and moving material-all by hand. Needless to say, hand digging is no fun and as they say...."necessity is the mother of invention..." One day it occurred to me as I was riding my ATV...why not design a small backhoe for my ATV that could be both towable on the highway and work off-road? So, I began working on a lightweight configuration that would work with the Susuki 250 I was riding at the time, with racks and yet be durable and have the capability of digging to 72 inches. For this, I designed a 6 1/2" wide bucket that would be interchangeable with a larger 10" bucket. QUESTION:
How did you come up with the name? ANSWER:
Well, pretty simple name actually, just a slight variation of my name is all.....The actual product name is The Gan-So Digger QUESTION:
So, how did the Gan-So Digger get started? ANSWER:
The next step was to put the design requirements on paper and run the numbers to see if this design could actually work! Then it was time to build a prototype model for some tough performance tests in the field. QUESTION:
Where did you conduct the field tests? ANSWER:
We tested the prototype ATV Backhoe on some pretty tough terrain in Utah, Idaho, and Arizona to be sure this ATV Backhoe could endure the tough environment, weather, and general hard work I would expect of such a piece of equipment working in the backyard, on the farm, or in the field on a mining claim or wherever! I needed to make sure this ATV Backhoe could stand up to whatever folks would use it for! QUESTION:
So how did it perform? ANSWER:
Great! We were so excited that The Gan-So ATV Backhoe so out performed all our expectations! We even road tested the prototype on the highway reaching speeds of 85 mph-of course I recommend posted speed limits be obeyed at all times! We had a lot of fun testing the Gan-So ATV Backhoe because with every test we could see new uses for the backhoe and how much fun folks could have using this new innovative tool with both commercial and personal applications! So what came next? ANSWER:
Following the intense and thorough field testing during the Summer of 2006 we began making plans to market the Gan-So Digger. We wanted the fastest way to let people know just how great the Gan-So Digger ATV Backhoe really is...so.....we developed this website to help release the Gan-So Digger ATV Backhoe. I really wanted to share my invention with other folks who would no doubt enjoy this ATV Backhoe! QUESTION:
